KRISTA SCHILTER

*trips on the limitations and the possibilities of the written word*

Krista Schilter (she/her) - a Gestaltist, horticultural therapist, writer, storyteller, and creator of GOLDEN CHAIN - is curious about body-based practices from the Kundalini + Katonah yoga lineages, Daoism, group process inspired by Gestalt psychotherapy, and creative process reflected in community.

She’s motivated by our capacity to de-centre the human, to feel, to connect with the natural world, and to get quiet enough to listen so we may give voice to the voiceless, and open ourselves to mystery. She thinks a lot about making the mundane mystical and how the process of becoming is - in its simplest of ways - about noticing and paying attention. She trips on the limitations and the possibilities of the written word and treats spoken word as shaped breath.

As a freelance creative copy + content writer, she’s remarkably capable of writing her bio in third person. She’s curious about how we orient ourselves in time + space using our sensory faculties and how words and their weaving can both limit and enhance our experience of the world.

Some of the things she likes include: laughing til her cheeks hurt, maintaining a free-write practice, the perfectly chilled apres-ski beer, talking to the trees, crying to the sky, swimming in cold waters, keeping habitually dirty feet. A nature-lover and animist, she lives most of her days from a single-room cabin in the woods on a 400 million year old rock formation with her baby, her lover, their dogs, and a very reliable internet connection.
